Well, I'm still in the process of setting things up. I've had a couple of deliveries over the last couple of days which has been nice. Some chemicals I've ordered and some lab glassware. It's amazing how quickly you strat to run out of space and I've had to add some additional shelve units and dedicate another cupboard for storage. I've also realised that I probably made a bit of a mistake in using larger 500ml bottles for most chemical storage.
Its reasonable to expect to have all your chemicals handy, but if they are stored in large 500ml bottles, they take up a lot of room. What I've decided on is to store the bulk in these large bottles, but have a second set of smaller 250ml "working" bottles actually around the bench. I will keep top them up from the main bottle as required, but it means that I need less space (or can store more smaller bottles in the available space), and, in case of accidents there is less of the chemical in the working area. Its also useful incase a bottle somehow gets cross-contaminated.
I'm now building some drying / storage racks. These are lengths of wood with dowels at 45deg of various lengths. Washed glassware can be placed over the dowels and left to dry and can be stored there.
